Memes

For this Blog Post, I have chosen three memes that’s ideal, behaviors, and manifestations relate with theme of this website and would resonate with the target audience.

This first meme is know as “Your Music Saved Me” and it relates to Website and target audience because has to do with all things music. The beauty of this meme is that it can be relatable to anyone music lover because it parodies our relationship with the bands and artists we listen to. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/your-music-saved-me

The second meme, called “Bill Clinton Swag” and has recently gone viral because the user’s ability to personalize the meme by adding music he/she enjoy to the template. It relates to my audience and website because its a funny way to show people your favorite music creations. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/bill-clinton-swag

And last but not least, there is the “Drakeposting” meme. This by far the most popular that I am showcasing in this blog post. The meme template is commonly used to for any topic from politics, entertainment, sports, and many others. I chose that specific template because of it musical and its relation to website and target audience. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/drakeposting

All three memes represent the same ideals in the context of the website and my audience. The ideal of a meme “is the concept or idea conveyed” (Davison pg. 123), and the overarching ideal of these memes is the relationship of the listener and the artists they listen to. Each meme offers a template for people to connect through music and creates a cultural trend. The ability to change content of these memes is what makes so relatable and viral, specially in the online music community.

The behaviors of these memes relatively the same. Someone takes a meme template and either text or images to alter to message of the meme. For example in the “Bill Clinton Swag” meme, people can change the images of the albums to fit what they listen, that’s the behavior. Another example of this is “Drakeposting” meme, where people can the text to correlate with images of Drake. In the cases, these memes originate and spread on social media. In this case, people make memes and relate to music create a viral image through online communities.

The manifestation of these memes are all centered around the images they use whether be the sign in “Your Music Saved Me”, the albums in “Bill Clinton Swag”, or Drake dancing in “Drakeposting. They are many different manifestation of these memes, but what makes them apply to my audience is that the content is about music. Memes have the ability of “replicating, mutating and adapting” (Davison pg. 123), because it can apply to several communities of people online.
