What to Know
For decades, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey has fostered a diverse and ever-expanding music scene. This noisy college town has proudly been the home to the traditional basement show, where students huddled together in off-campus housing to enjoy and celebrate music. The basement scene here at Rutgers is unlike any other, featuring a variety of different and unique sounds with genres ranging from funk to alternative.

My name is Brian Capobianco and I’m at Junior at Rutgers University. I’ve working WRSU, Rutgers radio, for two years now. I have been following the local basement scene since I transferred 2018. Over these two years, I’ve became familiar with many of bands that currently play in New Brunswick. I think the culture around music at Rutgers is something that needs to be share, so stay tuned!
